Basmati rice is a unique species of rice originating from India. An extra long, slender grain that is a delicate pearly white, has the fragrant aroma of sun-baked wood with delicate floral notes, and a nutty cooked flavour. Cooked Basmati Rice will have a soft, fluffy texture with no sticking. Delicious as is or as an accompaniment to curries and stews such as Lamb Khorma or Dhal. Makes a wonderful aromatic pilaf with the addition of spices such as saffron, cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves and bay leaves.
